foooooouuuuuurrrrrrtteeeen

well, that's that. I am now 14. And I got some pretty cool loot. Not as cool as last year {tablet} but THAT is because I will be getting a laptop for Christmas, which basically means I won't get anything else exciting {from my parents at least}. It probably won't be a EPIC LAPTOP OF EPICALNESS, but I'm still pretty psyched about it. It'll be more portable, so I can take it on vacation, and... well, it'll be my own. YEAH. Also, my grandmother's dog is having puppies!!! I have not seen any actual puppies in real life since 4th grade. Apparently they'll be born by Christmas, which is when I'm going up there, so I expect them to be super cute!

Alright, now back to my science homework.

more 14th birthday shenanigans

So it turns out that my birthday party can be on the 19th after all! That's very good and I'm excited. The only thing is that I don't know what to ask for this year for a major-ish technological present. Three years ago I got DS games, two years ago I asked for and got an iPod Nano, last year I got a spiffy tablet. But, since I already have an iTouch (durrr durrr durrr) there's not much that I can think of that I want, other than my own computer. But I think my mom's against the idea cause then I'd be shut in my room all day, which is probably true. But the only things that I can think of that I want are soft stuffed animals that I can use as pillows, books, barnes+nobles giftcards, and itunes giftcards. Of course there are other cool things that I would be happy to recieve, but nothing major. I guess I'm just content with what I have :?

One good thing that I am very happy about is that I finally have a door. In 3rd grade when my sister and I's room was renovated, the door was removed so it could be painted, and then something happened and it couldn't be used anymore, and we didn't have a door (soon enough neither did my brother, for unrelated reasons.) Then in 7th grade my sister got her own room and I finally was left to myself again, but I still didn't have a door. Last summer my parents ordered a door. And now finally I have a door. And it shuts all the way. And it's magnetic. And it's painted the same dark purple as the far wall of my room. I like it a lot ^^

Okay one idea I just had for some Homestuck fanart is to design a set of Homestuck playing cards. There are 52 playing cards in a deck, so I figured I'd just assign each troll to a number, and draw each of them 4 times. That only makes 48, so I would draw 1 kid for each of the 4 aces. The way I'm imagining this I think it would be really cool but honestly I don't think I could make it turn out that well. Maybe if I had more time - and more skill.

Okay well I guess that's all I have to say for now! I'm glad that I manage to keep this blog going, even though probably only one or two people read it anymore. Derp!

shenanigans

Okay so my birthday is coming up soon and JEEZ I have not posted ANYTHING on this blog in far too long. I mean I haven't posted anything on my other blogs either but I've been especially inactive on this one. But, on the other hand, I have been getting a good bit more active on my DeviantArt!

Anyways. Back to my birthday. It's on the 16th, but my party is going to be a sleepover so normally it'd be on the weekend before or the weekend afterwards.. Turns out there are some problems with that. I really would rather not have it on the 12th or the 13th because then one of my best friends wouldn't be able to come, but my mom was planning on hosting some crafting party on the 19th so it can't be then. BUT three of my best friends wouldn't be able to come nearly at all if it was on the 20th! And the next weekend after that is Thanksgiving! Gaaahhhh! However, my mom said that she'd try to move the crafting party to the 21st. Maybe that'll work @_@

My nose has been very clogged up lately, and it's quite annoying. I've also been coughing a bit, but not nearly as much as my brother or mother, so hopefully I won't have to take meds for it. Part of it might just be seasonal allergies anyways. I really hate those, because they mean that my nose is runny for about 2/3 of the year. Ugh.

I am really beginning to enjoy my tablet, even moreso than when I first got it. I would definitely recommend it to any aspiring artist who has any interest in digital work.

Okay, I guess that's about it. Yay for [slightly] lengthy posts!

I am still alive.

Man, I just have not been updating this blog! I've been too obsessed with Homestuck, I guess. But let me just say that I've finally begun regularly writing/drawing again, even if it is just fanfic/fanart. Alright, that is basically it. Sorry for being veeeeeeeery inactive!

homestuck and civilization v!

so, first of all, Civilization V (aka Civ 5) came out on Tuesday. And we FINALLY got ahold of it. I'm installing it right now and expect it to be suitably epic. But I've been rather distracted from the whole thing today because of a certain webcomic...

No. Not Order of the Stick. OOTS is hilarious and one of the best webcomics ever. But that's just the thing, see. The time has come when I call OOTS 'one of the best' instead of 'the best'. Because in my mind, that top position has been claimed by..

Homestuck.

It probably has to do with the apocalyptic plotlines, all the epic music (music is the way to my heart. it's true) and the whole of Hivebent, the troll plotline from act 5. mmmm.

Ah! Steam has finished downloading Civ 5! Time to play!

birthday!

so today my friend and I had an inspiration: we will {EDITED TO PREVENT FRIEND FROM SEEING} birthday parties! {EDITED TO PREVENT FRIEND FROM SEEING}! it'll be excellent. I won't say just all of what it will involve, because that might ruin the surprise for those real-life friends of mine that are reading this. you'll know if i'm talking to you. 8D

also, the amount of planning i've put into my birthday party this year may well be more than all the other planning i've put into all my other birthday parties combined. i am so excited! i would elaborate, but i have to go to bed now. two months, four days. ^_^

school time

Woops. I didn't notice that the one year-mark for this blog was on August 8th. So.. Happy three-weeks-late birthday, Gosh's Erblog! >.< Yeah. In other news, school started nearly a week ago, and so I have the duty to post my schedule and comments about it, etc, etc. Luckily I already did that for le tumblr so behold!

Period 1 - Language arts with Mr. Lankford. SOOOOO AWESOME. And I’ve got several of my friends in there. Yeah, definitely one of my favorite classes.

Period 2 - Multimedia II with Mr. Black. I’m one of the only 3 girls in there.. but one of the other girls is one of my friends, who I haven’t had any classes with since third grade. Not bad. Plus the class is cool.

Period 3 - US History with Mrs. Moore. She’s okay, I guess, but the best thing about that class is that all my best friends are in it. Sweet!

Period 4 - Science with Mrs. Negrito. Ugh, she is soooo strict, and annoying too. I have a couple friends in this class, but her seating arrangement places me far from them.

Period 5 - Health with Coach Philen for half a year, and for the second half, PE. I’ll get .5 of a high school credit, which is all I’ll need for Health. And I’ve got friends in this class. Not bad!

Period 6 - Lunch. All my friends and I have the same lunch period. Nothing else to be said, really.

Period 7 - Advisory with Mr. Lankford. Advisory is basically a 20-minute study hall, but the cool thing is I have a bunch of my friends in my advisory (plus, you know, cool teacher.) Only thing is.. there are also a bunch of snooty “popular” girls in there. At least we have open seating!

Period 8 - Art I with Mrs. Benoit. It’s a high school class, so if I pass (which I’m fairly confident about) I’ll get another high school credit - this time a fine arts one. Also, I’ve got some friends in here. Nice.

Period 9 - Geometry with Mr. Carine. Annoying. First off, from the few lessons we’ve had, I can already tell that I don’t like geometry and Mr. Carine isn’t very interesting either. I’ve got a friend or two in this class, but.. ugh. At least it’s another high school credit class - so if I pass this, Health, and Art, then I’ll have 3.5 high school credits without even going to high school. (I already got one in seventh grade for algebra.)

Right, so.. I guess it’s time to work on geometry homework. WHY was I somewhat excited for eighth grade?! .-.

clumsiness troubles

Alright, so there's this one restaurant we go to a lot. They have a fountain outside that we always throw pennies into (for silly wish purposes). I step up on the ledge every time to try to get the coin to fall into the highest tier of the fountain. Except this time I tripped and fell into the fountain. Isn't that brilliant.

In other news, I'm back at home, and school starts next Tuesday for me. I'm kinda excited to see more of my friends again tomorrow at textbook pickup, and I can't wait to find out my schedule (we get our schedules + first day packets first period on the first day of school.)

Annnnndddd... I'm getting a bit obsessed with the Total Drama Island series, especially this season, Total Drama World Tour. It's probably not helped by the fact that this one user is releasing one episode a day, and they're on like episode 17, whereas only 10 have aired in the US. I especially love the music c:

I've gotta go now, apparently the approaching start of school means earlier betimes. Good night!

stormy alabama

Right, so I'm in Alabama right now, visiting my grandma. The trip to [undisclosed waterpark] was very fun, I'd definitely recommend it. I am... actually rather bored at the moment, but I felt compelled to blog and stay active while the internet is alive. By the way, I've been checking out this other blogging service called Posterous. It's pretty cool, I'd say, but also pretty small in the blog world. Also, I'm pretty miffed because it's been 10 days since the last OOTS strip. Maybe tomorrow will be my lucky day.

Alright, it's about to storm, so I'll just go ahead and post this d:

civilization

Well, it turns out that for my brother's birthday I, my dad, and my siblings went to one of those jumpy-thing places (you know, with the inflatable bounce-houses? hopefully someone understands what I am saying) while my mom went out to get presents and wrap them. Yeah, my parents are procrastinators too. And we'll go to that unnamed water park next week, before we go to Alabama again.

So.. September 21st! Civilization 5 is finally coming out on September 21st! Whee! I've been playing various Civ games since I was like 5, so I'm quite excited. I'll have to buy it straightaway c: For those that don't know, Civilization is an amazing build-an-empire turn-based-strategy game. Although people who would be interested in that sort of thing have probably already heard of Civ, but I digress.

Ah well.. gonna go play aramii now! *poofs*

titles are boring

So tomorrow's my brother's sixth birthday, and to celebrate this our family is going to this awesome waterpark. That will be fun, especially because I haven't gone to go anywhere decent in terms of amusement parks since third grade, seeing as around third grade my little brother was born and prevented us from doing that kinda thing. (Admittedly, had I taken orchestra, band, or choir in the past 2 years, I would've gotten an opportunity to.. but that's not the point.) So, that'll definitely be cool.

So, uh.. I'm listening to my whole music collection, shuffled, which I don't usually do (I tend to stick to playlists.) Yeah. Oh, and on Friday I hosted a sleepover that consisted of me and my 4 best friends. I hadn't seen any of them but one all summer, so that was fun. 'Course, a couple of them left stuff, but I'll be able to return said stuff at one of the friends' birthday part on the 7th.

So, uh.. yeah. I'm tempted to ramble on about some changes in one of my favorite sites, but no one would know what the heck I'd be talking about, so I'll shut it.

the 11th hour

Just watched this documentary called The 11th Hour. It was all about how our current model of economics and government is built for growth, but too much growth - no, the wrong kind of growth - will result in our downfall. Having watched this movie, I have come to the conclusion that we, as a society, will have to be obsessive about being environmentally friendly if we're going to change our ways. We'll have to put nearly everything else down for a while. Because for once, we'll have to read the Terms of Service of Earth, and act accordingly.

Thursday, July 22, 2010

Woah!

I didn't realize that it's been a while since my last blog! Anyhow. I'm doing good - having sleepovers, playing computer games, stuff like that. I even got my brother to play some Civilization 4 with me in an attempt to make him forget about Order of the Stick. See, we got the OOTS board game, and Lucas is really into it. I had to put my OOTS books up high so that he couldn't reach them, as Mom has deemed them inappropriate for him, and I agree. Right now I'm playing Heroes of Might And Magic V: Tribes of the East, and typing up this post between turns. So, uh... yeah. I guess that's all I really wanted to say. -poof-

security in being unknown

So, let's see. Today my mom took me to the college that she went to. It's also the college that my grandpa and uncle went to, and I believe I want to go there as well. The legacy was very interesting. And my little group of friends is planning a sleepover sometime in the next two weeks, and I wonder if I'd be able to host because I never host, probably because my house is almost never that clean, except for birthday parties. And with my birthday party, I don't limit myself to this group of friends (yeah, I'm talking about da5). So.. yeah, I'd have to ask. And I dunno what my parents say. And I doubt anyone will care about this, but I guess that's why I blog. Because I can assure myself that only a few people will read this, while also being under the illusion that it's more glorified than a journal. I suppose I'd let out more secrets if I knew that no one that I know in real life would read this. But, seriously. I tweet about this blog, and I have friends who follow me on Twitter (not that they get on usually.) It appears in my Buzz feed. I've even put this as my website on Facebook (not that anyone looks at that.) But seriously, I can count the number of people who read this regularly on one hand. If I had 2 or 3 fingers removed.

when i get really tired, things like this happen.

I read this paragraph and cracked up:

Albert Einstein's mathematics suggest it [referring to time travel] is achievable in theory but only towards the future and without a way back, and even then only with literally astronomical amounts of energy or possibly some kind of exotic matter with imaginary mass involved).

Exotic matter - with IMAGINARY MASS!

some lyrics, from some song

alright, so i'm glad to be home (for realz this time.) i'm not going to be traveling again for two or three weeks this time, and when i do go it'll be with my family to my (other) grandma's house - the one that lives in alabama. but the only thing is, my sister's friend has a birthday party july 31st. but if we don't leave until after then, we won't come back in time for my friend's birthday party on like, august 6th. so it's guaranteed that one of us will miss out, since if we try to be back by august 6th we'll have to leave well before july 31st.

apparently while i was at camp, angelina (the brown tabby cat that wanted to be ours) died. it was kind of a shock (though i suppose not as much of a shock if, say, tasha had died) and very sad. :c

i've found this note-taking site called switchnode, which i find very handy and easy to use. i had been writing down various ideas for stories i've had, but the whole thing somehow got wiped, so now i've got to start over. ah well. so anwyays, check out http://www.switchnode.com/

apparently i've gotta finish this up; it is almost 1 am. good night.

-"Build God, Then We'll Talk" - Panic! At The Disco

Well, I was going to make a blog post yesterday, but I was too busy messing around with the design of the blog. The background might change a couple times more, by the way ;) But anyways, I'm back from camp now! It was quite fun..

Okay, and... I'm sorry I don't have time to upload my Europe pictures, but I'm leaving for my grandma's house later today and I don't have access to the computer I usually use to upload pictures (and besides which, I would only have time to compose a blog post with a couple teaser photos or something). But I'll be back by next week, I think, so then I'd be able to! Right now I'm using my mom's new Windows 7 laptop, which I'm pretty pleased with.

At camp I acquired a liking for a few more songs... looks like soon I'll have to get more iTunes money.

and i don't want the world to see me
cause i don't think that they'd understand
when everything's made to be broken
i just want you to know who i am

shopping and then the doctor*

*the title refers to a doctor's appointment, not dr. who. but dr. who is cool too c:

alright so on Saturday and Sunday my mom and i went shopping AGAIN, because i needed more evening wear for the cruise. i also got two more order of the stick books, yippee! like the five other books i got last Sunday, i'm not allowed to open them until i get on the plane. and i got some nice little black dress shoes. ugh. well, anyways. exams this week, but they'll be pretty easy, i think. school gets out on friday, and on saturday i fly to london! well, i'll fly to (undisclosed city) and meet my grandma and cousin, and from there we'll fly to some city up north, and from there to london. it's like a 12 hour flight, which is why i have lots of books!

oh yeah and today my sister and i got out of school early because we had to get physicals for summer camp. my brother went too because he needed shots for kindergarten, but he didn't get to miss school cause he got out of school last week. c: i had to get two shots, which still kind of hurt. my brother had to get four, and he was crying. my sister didn't get any, which was good, because.. well, i LIKE my ears, okay?

back to talking about preparation for my trip. i think we're done with all the shopping now, but packing.. well, i've packed some card games! heh heh.. heh. well, i have four days to pack. i think i'm good.

the untitled

We had these Award Ceremonies today, with awards for all the different electives and also for some competitions like UIL, plus some awards for being perky (no joke) and for having perfect attendance and all A's. The only one I got was the All A's award, which I'm fine with. At least I got something.

I'm not sure what else to say here. I'm excited for the cruise, everyone is excited for summer (my Facebook news feed is filled with "6 days left" posts) but that's not really new. However, I will try to get 2 more blog posts done in the next week so that May will have more blog posts than any other month yet this year and will have averaged about 2 blog posts a week!

also, i've been going on this one site called aramii a lot more. right now i'm organizing my camp. hooray for aramii!

cruise

lright, so first off: I got a 92 on my end-of-course algebra exam! I'm pretty happy about this, to tell the truth. It was a pretty difficult exam (well, difficult when you compare it to my other exams :D)

Alright, um, some info on my upcoming trip!
My grandma has paid for herself, my cousin, and I to go on this cruise in Europe! It's the northern part of Europe, so not Greece, Italy, France, or Spain. However, I am going to England, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Latvia, Estonia, Russia, Finland, and back to Sweden. The cruise starts on June 2nd and ends on June 16th, but we're leaving the day after my school gets out, which is a few days before that, just in case there are flight issues. So hopefully I'll get a few extra days in London! I do hope that that Iceland volcano doesn't provide any problems.

Then I come back for two days just in time to see Toy Story 3 (SQUEE!!) but then I go to summer camp for two weeks, during which time I will not blog and will not have internet access. But that's okay.

I might compile a blog post that has pictures from inside my epic 36-foot tall tree (I used myself to measure how tall it was) and pictures of the mysterious pale yellow tabby that hangs around my house but is scared of humans.

oh darn. i've got the hiccups :c

impatience

I'm feeling kind-of impatient today. On Starless (warriors roleplaying forum, if you've forgotten) I'm waiting for posts to be made on three threads - and I've been waiting for a while now. I guess this is what people were thinking when I was inactive, though, so I guess it's not that bad. Especially cause I went shopping today! I got several new pairs of shorts/capris, t-shirts, pajamas, as well as a brand new suitcase and travel bag! I also got two 4GB memory cards for my camera. I'm starting to feel ready for my trip! Well, only on the practical side; I am lacking in the books department, but I think my mom will take me to Barnes & Nobles sometime in the next two weeks, and if I'm lucky, I can buy one of the Order Of The Stick books.

Now that I'm back home, however, I'm still impatiently refreshing the Starless homepage to see if anyone has posted. And it's not like I don't have anything better to do; I have a language arts mythology project and a science review that are both haunting me. Ah well.

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) I finished my download of Portal a couple days ago (yes, I finished just as I had to go to school) and I've been playing it a lot; it's quite addicting, and very fun. I think I'll go play that now - see ya!

download complaints

75th post! woot woot! and also, that homework i was procrastinating on in my last blog post - i got it all done. so there. B)

but that's not the subject of this blog post. my uncle informed me of the marvelous fact that the game Portal is available for free (at least until May 24th) on Steam. steam is pretty cool - i downloaded it last night - but i started to download Portal last night, and as i speak, it still hasn't finished downloading yet. that's probably because, whoop-de-do, it became paused sometime last night. except for the fact that neither i nor the rest of my family paused it. that's my first complaint. my second is this: "time remaining" counts are totally inaccurate. (this applies to other downloads too.) i know this because just last night, i saw the time remaining go from:

1 year
to
22 hours
to
9 hours
to
8 hours 30 minutes
to
9 hours.

as of right now, the time remaining count is 21 minutes 27 seconds, but as i typed that, it jumped to 19 minutes and then to 24 minutes. i got up early.. for this. i mean, i've also been playing farmville and what not, but i was looking forward to trying out portal. ah well. with my luck, it'll finish downloading right as i'm about to go to school.

the avoidance of homework

alright, i really should be doing my homework instead of blogging, but i haven't blogged in a couple days, so i guess it's okay. we took another long boring test today, except it was timed, covered all subjects (well; reading vocabulary, reading comprehension, mathematics, mathematical procedures, spelling, literature, science, and social studies) and took up the whole day except for 9th period. so yeah, it was boring, and it means i have less time to work on my homework (though i am blogging right now instead of doing so.) although truth be told, most of my friends have already finished this homework, so i'm going to assume i can get it done easily.

not much else is happening in real life, except for the approach of summer, which i greatly look forward to. to my happiness, i have started posting on starless (that warriors roleplay site) more and i also am a part of a warriors roleplay one of my real-life friends has started (hey, there was something else happening in rl. go figure.)

well, i... finished posting on starless, so i guess i'll conclude this post and go do my homework. and it's (only) 5:50. alright!

Alejandro

well, we finished up taks week. pretty easy. course, we still have final exams the last week of school. but the only one i'm really concerned about is algebra, and if it's anything like the practice exam we took, i'm pretty sure that i can ace it. and the great thing is, the amount of homework will just decline rapidly over the next few weeks. although there may be a couple projects. like this villanelle poem i'm doing - well, supposed to be doing. c;

we had a book fair this week at school in the library. being a bookaholic, i bought four books, spending about forty five dollars. unfortunately, i've already read them all. my mom is really grateful for libraries, for otherwise we'd have to buy even more books. i mean, my parents are solid readers too, but... anyways. :P I tend to read around one or two average-length books per school day, although this sometimes gets me in trouble. i'm not trying to brag here; i can just read really fast.

well, i have to go to sleep now; got an algebra AND a science test tomorow. bai!

for victory we ride, fury of the storm

I always open up a tab to blog on, but it's always lower on my list of priorities, and then it doesn't get done. So I blog from my iTouch to make sure it gets done.

Today we have the Reading TAKS test, which is always really annoying and boring - and of course I dislike the importance the state places on it. But I never have a problem, usually only miss one or two out of how many questions? Fifty-eight? Yeah..

I boast sometimes that I can and will get up early if I want to (if you consider 5:50 early), but really I dislike having to sacrifice sleep. This is not made easier by the fact that I sleep in a loft bed, which (as I always explain it) is a bunk bed without the bottom bunk.

And I also reprimand myself whenever I get up early just so I can harvest my crops on farmville. Which I did today - although I didn't get up quite as early as usual. :P

Darn, the computer I'm using is really slow, especially when it comes to FarmVille. At least I harvested all that Forbidden Rice and planted some more.

Oh yeah, and I got a new bike yesterday. It's silver, and much better for my size than my old one. It's pretty cool.

Every day is closer to summer break - which is exciting not only in that, well, it's the end of school, but also in that I leave for London the day after school gets out, and my cruise starts a few days after. AND ALSO, when I'm in eighth grade, none of the really annoying guys in my multimedia and gym classe will be there. Hooray!

By the way, I was writing this this morning before school.. but then my iTouch ran out of power. Good thing it saved!

Pandora's Box

So. I think it's blogging time. If only I knew what to say.

My science teacher dropped a project on us on Monday; said project is due Friday, but for once I'm not procrastinating, so I am in no way stressed. So that's good. Next week we have the reading and math TAKS (standardized testing), but I'm not worried about them either, they're just boring. And we have a "field" trip on Thursday. Haha, no fields for us, we get to go see Oceans. Which isn't that bad - it means no homework - but I've seen a lot of movies very similar to it. You know, they show you ocean life, then they lecture you about pollution. Hooray. Honestly, my school isn't very creative with its "field" trips.

I've started listening to Pandora, an internet radio station website, a lot. (Like Pandora's Box - has nothing to do with Avatar.) You enter the name of a song or artist - this is the seed - and Pandora makes a persionalized radio station from that seed. You can add more seeds and ban artists from your station, and you can find info for all the songs and artists onsite. You can even skip through songs you don't like, though you can't rewind. Best of all, there's a great iPhone/iTouch app for it, which is free and (I found) even better than the site. I hear there's even an iPad app, though of course I haven't gotten to try that out.

So. Pandora! I'm typing this from my iTouch, so I'm not sure, but it's probably pandora.com, nice and simple. Go check it out!

recommendation!

Before you continue reading, here's a screenshot I took of Google Chrome's approach to dealing with unresponsive pages.

Did you laugh?

Hope so. Anyways, I've discovered this cool site called rec.fm, where you recommend a product to your followers, and if it gets bought because of your recommendation, some of the proceeds go to the Red Cross or the charity of your choice. It easily lets you connect to Twitter, Facebook, and a multitude of other social networking sites. I've already recommended three things, which can be found here, here, and here.

Hey, I know I don't really have all that many readers, but I hope I can reach someone here.

Nothing much has been happening in real life. I mean, there's only 6 weeks until school gets out and I go to Europe, and that's certainly exciting, but other than that...

By the way, I would like to ask again: Does anyone know of some good iPhone/iTouch travel apps that will help me while I am in Europe?

titleless

So, on Sunday we went to Best Buy and swapped my broken iTouch for a new one. Since I had just synced it with my computer on Saturday, virtually everything was the same.. except of course the screen. (: We also bought a good case.

I watched 9 again on Friday with some of my friends.. That, along with some of the songs in Dear Agony, the album by Breaking Benjamin, inspired me to start drawing more. Hooray.

There's only a month and a half, basically, until the end of the school year (and the start of my cruise!) The thought of this excites me greatly. I have observed a decline in homework recently... or perhaps I have just actually been getting stuff done.

i do believe i shall blog more often.

I have to say, after watching the previews for Toy Story 3, the movie looks pretty epic. And luckily for me, it comes out on one of the two days in June that I'll be at home! Sweet! It's very intriguing, and hilarious as always.

I'm beginning to worry about my headphone situation. My current headphones (made by Sony) started to malfunction today. I was annoyed, and then suspicious. When I tested the headphones on my iPod nano and on the computer, they worked fine. So it may have to do with the time I slipped and dropped my iTouch on some concrete - it got two parallel cracks in the screen for that, but I hadn't noticed any other errors before now, and I can't really see the cracks anyways unless I look at the screen from an angle. (I think I have a habit of writing really longs sentences. Phew.) On the other hand, earphones and headphones have periodically been failing on me for a while now, so perhaps that's not it.

Anyways, I bought two albums and some songs, and I have 9 dollars left over in my iTunes account. Does anyone reading this have any suggestions for iPhone/iTouch travel apps that would help me this summer when I'm on my cruise in Europe?

insert title here

So I saw How To Train Your Dragon on Friday! It was very visually appealing, pretty funny ("You just gestured to all of me!") and very cute. If I can get up the courage, I might draw Toothless (the Night Fury) or something.

I was listening to some of the songs in the Almost Alice album, and I realized there are really only a couple songs I might want to buy out of that. However, I'm also eying two albums, one by Breaking Benjamin and one by Dragonforce, that I might buy.. Perhaps I shall buy those two albums and use any leftover iTunes money to buy apps that will help me when I'm on my cruise in Europe.

When I first heard about the iPad, it seemed cool as a tablet, but otherwise a lot like the iTouch. However, there seem to be some pretty darn good apps for it out there, and it now seems more appealing.. I don't have anywhere close to that sort of money, though, so I'm fine, I guess. 'Sides, I have my iTouch.

Yesterday I went out and brought up my camera into this nearly 40 feet tall tree in my backyard. I didn't go all that high up (well, not high compared to how high I usually go) but I've been kinda wanting to do that for a while now. I got some nice pictures (I think) and I didn't drop the camera, so.. yeah. I might post some photos.

I used to roleplay a lot, although it was *cough* mostly on neopets, so I dunno what that really says. Now the only site I roleplay on is this one Warriors roleplaying site with a really good plot, called Starless. Lately I've been kinda lax about roleplaying there.. but tonight I've made like 5 new posts! Feeling good! :)

Cats!

So officially, we have one cat. Her name is Tasha. Here she is.

But really, we have another cat, Angelina. Here she is, eating the food we put out for her and Tasha, as usual.

Usually that mat - no, the whole front porch - is Tasha's turf, but right now she's relaxing in the shade of the car.

When she's done eating, Angelina goes to the sidewalk outside the front porch to relax, because relaxing is the cool thing for cats nowadays.

See, look! Relaxation!

These cats sure do like to relax, don't they?

But wait! Tasha has come to reclaim her porch!

Is there a fight? Nope. Tasha just goes to her food bowl - because eating is also one of those things that is in for cats, you know.

So Angelina can go back to relaxing in peace.

Angelina still has to be wary, though. So she watches Tasha from her relaxation spot.

*watch watch watch*

I decide to pet Angelina, hoping I don't make Tasha jealous.

But all Tasha does is brush past us and retreat into her sanctuary under the bushes.

If you're confused about how she got there, the entranceway is between that column and the brick wall.

So Angelina is free to drink some of that beloved water! Which is - you guessed it - also in for cats! Wow!

Tasha goes out for a stroll - I think she's a bit irritated by my picture-taking.
So those are the pictures I took of my cats today...

But wait! There was one cat I forgot!

Alice Alice Alice!

So yay, it's the weekend! This week went by kinda fast, but then so did Spring Break. Anyways, I saw Alice in Wonderland! I especially liked the Cheshire Cat... he was creepy, but cool.

Our garage is like, an abyss, but we're finally having a garage sale this weekend. (We planned to do so last summer.) I'm just sitting here, avoiding work by blogging and reading social media news on mashable.com.

Did I mention I'm now taking an actual art class? My friend introduced me to it, and I now go there every Wednesday after school with her. I hope it helps me sharpen my art skills. :)

Back to Alice in Wonderland. There's an album on iTunes from various artists that was inspired by the movie, called Almost Alice. Right now I'm debating on whether to buy the songs I know I like individually or to take a chance, save some money, and buy the whole album. Hmmm...

yay a drawing!

I felt like drawing today, so I drew this lovely picture of me slowly dying a horrible, painful, cough-full death, although I haven't actually felt that way since Wednesday. I would post the actual picture, but I think it might stretch the blog, so here's the link:

http://dictionary-0.deviantart.com/art/I-feel-like-death-157019858

yes, those are the pajamas i am wearing right now. x)

Not sure what I'm gonna do next.. maybe play Alpha Centauri? Perhaps Civ II: Call To Power.. but then I'd have to drag the comfy chair over there... *ponders*

cough cough

Don't you just hate being sick? I sure do (although I don't quite mind getting out of school.) My siblings and mother have been sick recently and yesterday we discovered that I had a 102 degree fever. I am still coughing and still have a runny nose, but I no longer have a fever or a headache. (Luckily there was never any throwing up involved.) I'm not sure if I'll be going to school tomorrow, but even if I'm not, next week is Spring break so there's not a high chance that I'll miss any more school. Which is good, cause I've already missed a substantial amount due to the Alabama trips.

*the following games I am about to talk about you have probably never heard of

A game I have been playing for many, many years: Heroes of Might and Magic, specifically Heroes III: Armageddon's Blade. It's very old, but it works on our XP (which I have christened the Game Computer, firstly because most of our games are installed there, secondly because a bunch of games worked on it that I didn't expect to. Me and my mom are currently playing a "hotseat" game of this, which we haven't done in a long time.

Another game that works on our two desktop computers (a Vista and an XP) is Sid Meiers Alpha Centauri, one of my favorite computer games (only topped by Civilization II: Call To Power.) It's like Civilization: IN SPACE! but it has a really good storyline and character. Incidentally, it's a game I first started playing one day that I was sick a couple years back. I was bored, on the couch, not feeling like I was going to throw up for once, so I grabbed the Alpha Centauri manual and read it (yes, I know, it's kind of weird) and then moved my blanket to the computer and started playing. I actually tried to play it once at the age of five or six, but the Mind Worms (which use psionic powers to stun their victims and then implant their larvae into.. okay, no need to get gruesome) scared me enough for me to drop it. I'm thinking of starting another game, now..

all we are is dust in the wind

Life has just rushed past me; I'm not sure what to say. February 18th, my grandfather died, so we had to go back to Alabama for his funeral. It was sad, but I guiltily say that I was closer to my other grandfather, who also died a few years ago. My sister even accused me of not being sad just because I wasn't crying. But that was weeks ago, but I still haven't updated, even with my 0n-the-go-update app for my iTouch. Ah well.

The cemetery that my grandfather was buried in is the biggest cemetery I've ever seen. Don't even think about trying to hold your breath as you pass this in the car, or you might pass out. Seriously. You know, there is something that can be said about cemeteries; and that is that when you walk across one to find where your siblings have run off to, you can feel history, on the headstones and footstones and in the bodies of people you never knew six feet under the ground. These people once had friends and families and a life. This kind of thinking is a bit dark, but philosophical.

On a different, but also philosophical subject, my bedroom window faces the right side of my neighbor's house. Every night I can see clearly that the upstairs room has the lights still on and the curtains drew back, but the only thing in the room really visible is an American flag. I wonder about that flag. Are my neighbors trying to honor our country? Or are they honoring a fallen soldier they know, or something? I've never asked. But I plan to someday.

A song that my dad likes by Kansas, called Dust In the Wind, was in my thoughts on the car trip there and back, although it's not really my usual kind of song. So I guess I'll close with this:

I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind, all they are is dust in the wind.
Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see

Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind

Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away, and all your money won't another minute buy.

Sweet Home Alabama

Well, actually, Alabama is my dad's home, not mine. But anyhow. We got here around 6 hours ago, and the hotel has wireless Internet, so I've got no problem with that.

.. Anyways. We went here, so hastily and in the middle of the week, because of my grandfather. He has cancer and other things, I'm told, and he may not have much time left. My dad picked me up from school yesterday and told me we were packing. And it only took us about two hours to pack, and then we were on the road. We dropped off our dog, Chakotay, at my other grandma's house (and we stayed the night too.) Then we hit the road and I alternated between dozing and reading for the next 9 hours.

We got here around 4 or so in the afternoon. My grandpa seemed to be doing, well, okay; my aunt said that he seemed to be 'rallying', that this was the best he'd been since she got here on Tuesday. I'm glad he's not in any pain. After a while we left his room to give him some peace and quiet- my siblings had a hard time understanding that, I believe.

It's very convienient about how 'online' schools are now- I can very easily email my teachers at short notice (which this was) and ask for the assignments for the next few days. I got a load of science homework printed out, and I brought the textbook with me, but my science teacher said that I would be given a few day's slack. Which is cool cause I normally find her annoying. But anyways. I looked on my algebra teacher's teacherweb and it looks like we're doing various worksheets, which is too bad, since if it was textbook stuff I could use the online textbook. (Although I suppose she could've attached the worksheets for me to print out, if she had responded.) My theatre teacher responded kindly, saying that it was fine and that we'd work it out when I came back. My history teacher attached the review we were doing today and tomorrow; unfortunately, I only recieved his email today, well after the time that I was able to reach for my history textbook. I printed it out anyways, in the hope that I could do some of it from memory, but still. Oh well. My language arts teacher hasn't been here at all this week, but even though he was supposed to come back today, his teacherweb wasn't updated and he never responded to my email, so I have no idea what's going on there.

Sigh... Different subject. Gmail has this new thing called 'Google Buzz' or some such thing, and it's pretty cool. It's basically a combo of Facebook (without the games and apps) and Twitter (they even have the @reply thing going on) plus integration from Flickr and some other stuff, and, you guessed it, Blogspot! So, yeah, I'm hoping this will gain some views from more of my real-life friends. c:

One last thing is that I finally gave in and got this free app from the app store called BlogPress, which enables me to now post from my iTouch. In fact, this whole post is from my iTouch, which I think shows how good I've gotten at typing on this thing - though the autocorrect helps a lot.

I guess I should go to sleep now. Bye :)

Midnight Ramblings

Yay for rambling on when no one knows what you're talking about!! x) Although I actually only thought of the subjects for my next post yesterday at midnight. And it's actually only 11:51 here. But anyways. Let's just jump into the first one: I've noticed that I think best when I'm 'drifting'. When it's hard to tell quite what time it is; when you know there's still time until you have to get out of bed, or get wherever you're going, or something. To clarify: I think best in the early hours of the morning and in the late hours at night, as well as in the shower and on road trips. Odd, huh? I like to think of it - especially if we're on a road trip - in a way that specifies that when we're going someplace, we're not really anywhere at all, not that I can see. Just drifting.

Yeah.. Hope that didn't confuse you too much. On to the second subject: Do you ever wish that a certain story was true? (and I ain't talking about Twilight, so anyone who drools over vampires in their sleep, get out.) I know I used to wish stories were true all the time ; I remember being quite disappointed when I turned 11, and then 12, and never got invited to Hogwarts. All the same, sometimes the settings in stories seem a lot better compared to our mundane lives - even if you wouldn't get to be like, an adventurer, or anything. I mean, technology is great and all, but if we could have magic instead..

*shakes head* Look at this. I'm really a nonreligious person, and Order Of The Stick has got me thinking about magic. Although I suppose that wouldn't be too strange.. and if..

Yeah, I'm gonna go sleep now. I might post some actual relevant stuff tomorrow.

first term, middle term, last term. ft, mt, lt. F.M.L.

(Well, my life isn't really f***ed, but... anyways.)

You know what one of the worst things in school is?

Thinking you've figured some kinda hard thing out and thinking, 'Hey, this is easy,' and then coming to class the next day, checking the answers, and realizing that you'd got them all wrong.

It sucks. And now I feel real bad and even though it was just a completion grade, I feel like I have to redo that page. See, the thing about math (btw, we're talking about my latest algebra homework here) is that the things you learn build on one another, and if you don't understand one thing.. D:

I wonder if I'll have to go to tutorials. Maybe I'm a little bit prideful, but I've never gone to tutorials before. Gahhhhh.. this algebra is driving me crazy.

Um.. other news. Alright, so I ended up contacting TNT and providing them with the pw and other stuff to show that I own my fourth side account, rhalinae, and I was all nice and stuff, and then I asked for the birthday. Truth be told, I didn't expect to get an answer - I was expecting some automated message saying that they can't do that and that it sucks to be me. But it was nothing like that at all! They quickly responded with the birthday. Isn't that cool? I mean, I always expect the staff to be annoying, but I'm reminded that they're people too.. (:

Anyways, I got on that account, fed my pets, and then moved the next pet to my main account so it could go under the lab. Took a while, but - yay! Happy endings for all of us! Yeah, yeah, boring neopets stuff.

I'm getting back into the fanfic-writing groove. I'm starting on the second chapter of a somewhat outrageous story called The Elven Affair.. not that anyone reading this would be likely to know any of the characters. x)

earphones and fanfiction and neopets oh my!

oh. my. gosh. earphones hate me.

Just on the 24th (about a week ago) I got some new earphones, because my old ones had broken (of course) and the ones they give you with your iPod/iTouch suck. The new ones were all nice and pretty and purple! purple's totally my favorite color. But anyways. Guess what. It's been all of one week and now no music comes out the left earbud. And I haven't been playing with them or anything (I usually tend to twirl them around my fingers, but this week I've refrained from doing so.)

Now, my last pair of earbuds were by the same people, and the same thing happened to them. Why did I get a new pair from the same people, you ask? Well, a) I had been seriously playing with them and stuff, so I figured it was my fault, and b) they lasted a couple months before that happened. Now if you think that might be annoying, you're wrong. It gets worse.

This happens to nearly every single pair of earbuds/earphones/headphones/whatever that I buy. It just never happened this fast before, so it didn't anger me this much. But also, check this: in Multimedia, I sit in the same spot every time, but the headphones usually get mixed up and stuff, so you just grab a pair of headphones. And almost always, I get a pair that only has sound coming out of one side.

I think I have a curse. (maybe it has to do with 222.)

Anyways, sorry for all the complaining, hope it doesn't make me seem bratty. How bout some other stuff?

I've been writing some of that (crack) OOTS fanfiction I was talking about in the last post. I haven't come up with anything substantial, but the others on the Crack Pairings thread on the OOTS forum seem to like my work so far, so I'm good! I also got a new sketchbook, and so far I've only done OOTS art (plus one crossover which had things from multiple genres.)

In theater we've all chosen our songs; me and my friend Destiny are doing No Air by Jordin Sparks (feat. Chris Brown). Some of the other girls keep making fun of the song, but I think it'll be good. I really should be listening to it now so I can memorize the lyrics better, but I'm listening to Soldiers of the Wasteland by Dragonforce instead. cx

Also: I don't really play Neopets anymore, I just check my messages every few days, but today I found out that someone had sent an application to give the robot bori I had up for adoption a home! I was really impressed, and I'm quite satisfied now. okay okay almost done with lame neopets paragraph! the bad thing is that one of my accounts (the fourth one, rhalinae).. well, i can't get into it because i can't get the birthday D: D:

so.. yeah. also, we're starting on some pretty hard algebra.. i was stressed about our homework today but then after a while i realized that it wasn't that hard. so i'm okay! (:

alright, done with this super long post. ;3

Saturday, January 30, 2010

Hmm what should I say here

So I've been spending the last couple days selling Girl Scout Cookies and drawing OotS fanart. (Not surprisingly, I've gotten to the last page of my sketchbook. I'll be getting a new one soon.) I haven't blogged much in the past few days, so what the heck, I'm typing away.

Luckily, I have no major projects or tests that I'm stressing out about (except that algebra test I took yesterday, I know I got several questions wrong. Oh yeah, and I have that PowerPoint presentation on Charles Darwin due next Wednesday.. but we have time to work on it in class Monday and Tuesday.)

Yeah, um, anyways.. The other day I preformed a monologue in theater, as opposed to working with a partner like everyone else did. I'm not usually a loner, but in my Theater class.. Well, I just wish I'd gotten 3rd period theater instead of 8th. Ah well - next year I'll be taking Art instead, as I've found out that I really don't enjoy theater that much without any friends. Anyways, I think I did pretty good on the monologue, even if I forgot one of my lines. Our next unit is lip sync, which should be fun, as I found someone to work with this time. I wonder what song we'll be doing though.. hope it's something I know. c:

My friend slept over last night, gave me some ideas for some (crack) OOTS fanfiction.. hmm..

Alright, now I'm done with my extremely mundane post. x)

Girl Scouts (and yikes! homework!) T_T

You may not know this, but I have been a Girl Scout since kindergarten. And I like it - I've always liked it - but this year (well, actually, we don't start work on it until next year) I decided that I wouldn't be doing the Silver Award. (For those who don't know, there's a Bronze Award, a Silver Award, and a Gold Award, all of which - but especially the last one - look good on your college application.) All the other girls in my troop are doing it, but this year I've had a lot of homework and I know that the homework will just increase next year. I just can't commit to doing something like that, not when I was considering skipping the meeting today because I had too much homework. Sigh..

Ah well. Just wanted to rant. Now I'm whacking myself for not doing my algebra homework (multiplying polynomials) and that language arts paper. Yikes!

Vaarsuvius <3

Vaarsuvius by ~dictionary-0 on deviantART

I Just finished drawing Vaarsuvius from Order Of The Stick in my own style o:
I drew this with my lovely Wacom tablet and the art program Sketchbook Pro.
I have to say, I like the outcome a lot (especially the hands) c:

(P.S. Vaarsuvius doesn't actually wear shoes, but I hate drawing feet, so.. d:)

More OOTS Stuff!

I now associate a total of four wildly different songs with Order Of The Stick

Tip Of The Iceberg - Owl City (electronic)
Dead Man's Party - Oingo Boingo (alternative)
Through The Fire and Flames - Dragonforce (rock)
TiK ToK - Ke$ha (pop)

o_O

Also.. my mom might take me to a game/comic book store to see if they carry the Order Of The Stick prequel books. The prequel books are.. well, what it says on the tin, but they're only in print, so I really want them. Of course, I want the others too for the ability to read them without being on a computer and to see the extra strips & introductions and such, but I really want the prequels. *.*

Also (2 weeks+ late) I've decided to make a New Year's resolution after all - make more than 50 posts this year! 8D

Friday, January 15, 2010

Oops...

Well! I haven't completely lost hold of my senses - I've decided to research Charles Darwin instead of D&D.. though I suppose that was mostly because no one in my class would know what I was talking about when I did the presentation. *.* Anyways, I've just spent the past hour reading.. yup, Order Of The Stick fanfiction. It took a while for me to finally venture into the thread labeled "Crack Fanfiction" on the OOTS forum, but I did, and while most if it was either disturbing or hilarious, one of the longer stories totally swept me away.

Well, I guess I know what my plans for this weekend are. I wonder which is more reasonable - to be obsessed with a comic strip and its fanfiction or an animated movie and its fanfiction? Probably the latter, but unfortunately my 9 obsession only lasted 2 months.. while I've been obsessed with OOTS since late October.

Oops indeed. (Also oops for making the titles of this post and the last post the same.)

((P.S. If you don't know what I'm talking about when I say OOTS, it's a stick figure comic I've been yakking about since October, found here. If you are familiar with Dungeons & Dragons, it could be funny for you, but I'm not that familiar with it, and I love the comic. *.*))

Monday, January 11, 2010

Oops

I haven't written in a while.

Anyways, in language arts we're about to start working on a research project that will end in a presentation and a 1-page essay. I was searching for topics to do, when I thought of Order Of The Stick. Remember Order Of The Stick? Well, if you don't, it's a webcomic parodying the roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons. And I've been reading some other D&D parody webcomics, so I got the idea to do D&D for my research topic.

Crazy, huh? I guess it's more like obsessed, but these things really interest me. Huh. By the way, I've now played over 800 games of Doodle Jump (my favorite app on the iTouch). It's really addicting - so addicting, in fact, that in the App Store it's labeled "Warning: Extremely Addictive!"

The start of the second semester has been okay. In science, we began a unit on flowers (today we did a flower dissection) and man, is it boring. Guess I won't be a botanist.

Ah, yikes - I still have that leaf diagram to do. *poof*

REFLECTION TIME!! o_o

Well, I got 9 on Blu-Ray and watched it again. I still have to say it's one of (if not the most) my favorite movies ever. But I watched the newest Star Trek movie on Blu-Ray afterwards, and I also have to say that I found Star Trek more compelling. Oh well.

Oh yes, and happy new year to everybody! Let's see, um.. reflections, reflections. In 2009 I stopped playing Neopets and started playing Subeta, Valenth, and Squiby. I made this blog and then later, my tumblr. I became obsessed with 9 and Order of The Stick. I embraced my inner artist and wrote my first fanfic. (This is all out of order, by the way.) I discovered some new music - Owl City and Three Days Grace especially. I came to love The Big Bang Theory. I found my inner "passion" for drumming - wait, that was fourth grade. But I suck at the drums on Rock Band..

Yeah, I think that's the best reflection I can come up with. It's 2010 now! And as Cyanide & Happiness said:
